Programs
All NYFAC recreational programming except swimming are fully integrated community based programs. Children with Autism are paired or play with their typically developing peers. Supervised by parents and guided by professionals in that recreational area. All NYFAC recreational programs include full family participation. Parents, typically developing siblings, as well as Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, nieces and nephews are welcome. Everyone is encouraged to participate in all aspects of our recreational programs. These programs are not designed to be respite. They require family participation.

PLEASE TAKE NOTE NYFAC DOES NOT RUN ALL THESE PROGRAMS AT THE SAME TIME. MOST ARE SEASONAL. PLEASE WATCH THE WEB SITE FOR DETAILS..... (You must be a member family to participate in any NYFAC programs)

Bowling
this program is offered both in Brooklyn and in Queens Kids bowl, shoes included. This program is great for teaching social interaction

Tennis
This program is a 8 week program. Children learn basic fundamentals of tennis. It is offered Saturday mornings from 8:00am -9:00 am @ The United Stated Tennis Association in Flushing Meadows, Corona Park, Queens, NY. will return in Fall

Swimming

It is open to NYFAC family members. This program is a one-on-one swimming program. One child, one parent supervised by a swimming instructor

Judo
This program is a six month structured program which revolves around discipline and coordinational exercises. This program is great for teaching patience turn taking and social interaction.

Creative movement
This is a 6 week program. It revolves around social interaction and dance. It is free to NYFAC family members. This program is great for teaching social interaction. This program is offered to you in a partnership with STARS Youth Center. (coming soon

Little league
Children learn basic fundamentals of baseball. This is a twelve week program. All children are awarded trophies. This is a 12-week season. It runs from June thru August. This program is great for teaching social interaction. (summer

Soccer
In this program children learn basic fundamentals of soccer. This program runs from August thru mid October. It is free to NYFAC family members. This program is great for teaching social interaction.

Swim and gym
This program involves one hour in the gym followed by one hour in the pool . Structured activities are followed by one hour free swims in the pool. This is a 10 week program. This program is great for teaching social interaction.

Arts and crafts

Golf-
Children will learn the
art of putting, chipping
and driving.. patience
and fine motor skills
are needed to be
successful here!
Puppet Program - children learn the art of puppetry. They will create their own puppet and own puppet show.
Music lessons - this program will include piano or guitar lessons. Children will be offered an opportunity to play an instrument. Watch for details.
